Libre Campers was founded with a simple goal: to provide honest, high-quality campervan conversions, repairs and upgrades without the compromises often found in the industry.
Based near Macclesfield, Cheshire, we specialise in campervan servicing Electrical systems, solar installations, off-grid upgrades and bespoke conversion work. Unlike the automotive industry, there are very few regulations governing campervan conversions in the UK. That means the quality of workmanship can vary hugely from one builder to the next.
At Libre Campers, we believe that just because something isn't regulated doesn't mean standards should be lowered.

Libre Campers is a campervan conversion and servicing workshop in Macclesfield, Cheshire, founded by Dan and his partner Ella. Backed by a team with over 20 years of combined industry experience, we've completed tens of bespoke campervan conversions and hundreds of repairs, specialising in custom conversions, campervan electrics, servicing, and off-grid upgrades. Our goal is simple: build campervans that are practical, reliable, and built to last — whether that's a full bespoke conversion, a lithium and solar upgrade, or expert fault finding.

Campervan conversion isn't governed by a single UK licensing body, but reputable converters still work to established safety standards for electrical, gas, ventilation, and structural work. At Libre Campers, every conversion is built to our own high internal standards while following relevant regulations and manufacturer guidance for the systems involved — including electrical installations, gas safety, ventilation, and structural modifications. If safety and compliance matter to you when choosing a converter, it's worth asking any workshop what standards and guidance they follow.

What experience does the Libre Campers team have?
The Libre Campers team has over 20 years of combined experience in campervan conversions, repairs, and electrical installations. Projects have ranged from £5,000 upgrades to £70,000 bespoke conversions, giving the team hands-on experience across the full spectrum of campervan builds — from complete off-grid electrical systems and custom furniture to full bespoke conversions. Dan and Ella have also built their own campervan from the ground up, giving them first-hand experience of designing a camper that's actually used and enjoyed on the road. Every project, large or small, gets the same attention to detail and quality workmanship.

Do you only convert vans, or do you service them too?
No — alongside full and partial campervan conversions, Libre Campers also offers servicing, repairs, and upgrades. Services include habitation servicing, electrical fault finding, solar and lithium battery upgrades, diesel heater installation, plumbing repairs, and general maintenance, keeping your campervan safe, reliable, and ready for your next adventure.
